ABOUT MEDUSA HEADWEAR

Medusa Headwear started as Medusa Headbands, selling mostly
fleece lined velcro-closing fashion headbands for the first years. One blazing day in the Spring of 1993, while instructing skiing at the Killington Mountain resort in Vermont, I ventured to the shop to buy a headband. I saw that the selection was not diverse so I had an idea to fill in a niche not available in the lines I saw. Upon arriving home that evening, I bought a sewing machine at a second hand store and started making headbands. I eventually hit the late Summer and Autumn craft shows that year to test the styles. And that is how this little enterprise began. As far as I know, our fashion headband line is the only line I have seen that uses Batiks, also called Balis, as part of its selections. These are beautiful hand made fabrics that are unique among fabrics. And being hand made, no two headbands are exactly the same.

The fleece used in our products is always Malden Mills' PolarTech 200 series fleece, a superior very low pilling fleece product made in
Lawrence, Massachusetts. Malden Mills products have always been at the forefront of fleece technology. They are still the very best. The black hood on the Shellaclavas is made of a Malden Mills fabric called Powerstretch which is microfleece lined for added warmth and comfort. My aim is to to provide a superior product with sturdy workmanship as an alternative to the lower priced, high-pill fleece products. Malden Mills USA has all the right fabrics for that goal.
